Entry Level Designation

As of October 3, 2022, Texas Government Code §2308.3155 requires all Child Care Services (CCS) child care and early learning programs to be included in the Texas Rising Star program, beginning at an Entry-Level designation. Entry-level programs may receive technical assistance, resources, materials, and mentoring to support them in attaining Texas Rising Star certification. For Center Directors/Administrators

Center directors must have an account ready for their next Texas Rising Star Assessment. Texas Rising Star assessors will be using the Professional Development Profile Reports to score applicable Category 1 measures.

For Educators

Educators (teachers) working within a Texas Rising Star-certified program are not required to have a TECPDS account, but it is considered a best practice by Texas Workforce Commission and Texas Child Care Regulation.

For Texas Rising Star staff and Board staff

Texas Rising Star assessors have access to an Administrative TECPDS account which allows the assessors access to the Professional Development Profile Reports for the Texas Rising Star centers they are assessing.
