Beginning 2021, Texas Rising Star assessors will use reports from TECPDS to score Category 1 Director and Staff Qualifications and Training measures of the Texas Rising Star Certification Guidelines.
As of October 3, 2022, Texas Government Code §2308.3155 requires all Child Care Services (CCS) child care and early learning programs be included in the Texas Rising Star program, beginning at an Entry Level designation. Entry Level programs may receive technical assistance, resources, materials, and mentoring to support them in attaining Texas Rising Star certification. Center directors must have an account ready for their next Texas Rising Star Assessment. Texas Rising Star assessors will be using the Professional Development Profile Reports to score applicable Category 1 measures.
Practitioners (teachers) working within a Texas Rising Star-certified program are not required to have a TECPDS account, but it is considered a best practice by Texas Workforce Commission and Texas Child Care Regulation.
Texas Rising Star assessors have access to an Administrative TECPDS account which allows the assessors access to the Professional Development Profile Reports for the Texas Rising Star centers they are assessing.
